Quantity Take-Off & Cost Estimation
Course modules
01Define the scope and source documents
Review a fictional project brief and organise its teaching drawings and specifications. Record revisions, missing information and exclusions before measuring quantities.
02Apply a clear measurement basis
Practise extracting dimensions from instructor-provided examples using the agreed measurement method. Record units and source references so another reviewer can follow the take-off.
03Build checked quantity schedules
Organise sample items and calculations into a structured quantity workbook. Check duplicates, omissions and arithmetic against the teaching documents.
04Assemble illustrative rates and costs
Apply sample material and labour rates to the checked quantities. Record rate dates, sources and allowances without treating teaching figures as live market quotations.
05Review assumptions and variations
Compare a revised teaching example with the original estimate and record changes. Explain exclusions and uncertainty without presenting the exercise as a contractual valuation.
06Prepare a reviewed estimate handover
Check calculations, source references and version consistency using a review checklist. Present a sample estimate pack with outstanding queries and qualified approval responsibilities.
